What is the best monitor or tegu to get?

I've had reptiles for a while, but I feel that it's time I take it to the next level. I want a monitor or a tegu. The reptiles I've had before include a Golden Gecko, Australian Bearded Dragon, and a California King Snake.
I am looking for a reptile that is easy to tame, is not 100% docile, but then again is not too active to where it becomes aggressive. Thank you for your answers.
