Is that a true statement? Or is it just an assumption made by someone?

If it IS true, why is it that calico's are only females?

I want a monitor or a tegu. The reptiles I've had before include a Golden Gecko, Australian Bearded Dragon, and a California King Snake.
I am looking for a reptile that is easy to tame, is not 100% docile, but then again is not too active to where it becomes aggressive. Thank you for your answers.
